THE STORY OF SADIE MAKEUP
lm the face of Sadie Makeup. My name is Sarah and lm 19 years old, from drogheda.
l’ve been in the industry since a young age since around the age of 14. l started practicing makeup
On the 5th of February 2018 at only 15 years old decided to make my makeup page. l would post loads of makeup looks though l wasnt that good at makeup the page was more so for progressing pictures and practice. While posting all the pictures l got to 300 + makeup looks on the makeup page. l would do video tutorials and live streams on instagram and then started a YouTube channel to do more and get more confidence and practice there.
In the November 2018 for TY l went on work experience to fuchsia makeup store to get more experience and what makeup was like working in a store. l really enjoyed working with fuchsia makeup store but made me know l wouldn’t want to work in a store at the time.
In the March 2019 for TY l went on work experience with sinead faulkner makeup studio and training l got so much more experience and loads of practice with the creative side of makeup. l learned about matching a makeup look that Sinead had done, special effects, painting, techniques and what makeup was like to work during a holiday as st Patrick’s day was coming. This work experience brought out my creative side that was already there but gave me the confidence when practicing and learning with sinead in the studio.
In the April 2019 from being on work experience with sinead she had a masterclass coming up. This was my 1st masterclass that l had done so was great to work in a group and find others techniques and share makeup secrets.
In the October 2019 we had a famly wedding and l did 5 makeup looks on the day for family so knew what makeup was like to work under pressure and how to get so many makeup looks done.
Fast forward to 2020 (Lockdown)
In the March 2020 Around this time l started to loose my love for makeup and wasn’t doing makeup as much as l use to l just wasn’t that interested and was always out more so. Think this was due to all the lockdowns and how emotional the lockdown had been.
Fast forward to 2021
In the may 2021 l graduated from secondary school thinking what l wanted to do in college was right. As a child l didn’t like school and had bad anxiety and just wanted to get in and out and do what l wanted in college and do what l loved.
In the June 2021 l sat my leaving cert not worrying about what points was needed cause l didn’t apply to the CAO and again didn’t care about school.
In the September 2021 l started in drogheda institute of further education in childcare and special needs assistance, l loved this course at the start and loved going on work experience to the crèche l was in.
In the December 2021 l started to notice that l was lacking in the course and wasn’t enjoying the course as much as l wanted and was thinking was this the right career for me.
In the January 2022 l started noticing this isn’t what l wanted in a career but thought l would stick the course to just get the qualifications and then find what l wanted to do
In the January 2022 close to February l seen a course with sinead Faulkner and looked into her course a bit more. l noticed the course was starting soon and lf l had to wait for April to graduate l wouldn’t be able to do the course and would have to wait for the next. l thought about this and didn’t know what to do and got advice off a lot of people. All the advice was why am l doing something l dont enjoy and just don’t waste doing that childcare and do what l’ve always loved. So l decided to leave drogheda institute of further education childcare and special needs assistance and do what l loved.
In the February 2022 l applied to the course with sinead faulkner and got a spot in the course. l was so happy and exited to join and didn’t know what lt would be like
In the March 2022 l started the course with sinead faulkner with 7 of us in the course what was the perfect amount as we would all learn alot better in a smaller group. At 1st l was quiet but being with the other girls we became good friends together and brought the confidence. And decided to post again on my makeup page.
Over the next couple of classes l learned so much and got so much more practice and skill.
Nw l am practicing for my itec level 2 written and theory exam. And done well in the mocks and be a qualified makeup artist. Hoping to from the work experience in November 2018 with fuchsia makeup store to work on a counter for a makeup brand in Dublin and hopefully then with the more experience work for myself in “Sadie makeup” like l did in work experience in March 2019 with sinead faulkner and work a business and be my own boss.
But here l am and so exited to see how my makeup journey continues
